Key Responsibilities
As a Theatre Scrub Nurse, you will:
- Deliver safe, comprehensive, and high-quality peri-operative nursing care within your Scope of Practice
- Collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary surgical team
- Identify, prevent, and manage clinical risks to ensure optimal patient safety
- Create a positive patient experience through professional and compassionate care
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation of all nursing interventions
- Contribute to staff development by fostering a supportive learning environment
- Ensure all theatre stock, equipment, and consumables are accurately recorded and charged
- Maintain the highest standards of infection prevention and control
Minimum Requirements
- Registered Nurse (RN) / Professional Nurse (PN) with a valid SANC registration
- Minimum of 2 years' recent Theatre Scrub experience strongn a hospital environment
- Proven ability to scrub for a variety of surgical procedures
- Sound understanding and application of the Nursing Scope of Practice
- Knowledge of clinical procedures, relevant nursing legislation, the Scientific Nursing Process, and BCA bundles
- Strong understanding of Theatre and CSSD policies and procedures
- Experience in the management of surgical instruments and equipment
- Excellent knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) principles
- Strong risk management and patient safety focus
Advantageous
- Additional qualification in Operating Theatre Nursing Science
