Key responsibilities of an ICU Registered Nurse:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill and high-dependency patients
- Continuously monitor and assess patients vital signs, condition, and response to treatment
- Administer prescribed medications, intravenous therapies, and blood products accurately and safely
- Operate and monitor specialized ICU equipment, including ventilators, cardiac monitors, infusion pumps, and life-support systems
- Recognize and respond promptly to medical emergencies and changes in patient conditions
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized patient care plans
- Maintain accurate and up to date patient records and clinical documentation
- Educate and support patients and their families regarding treatment plans, recovery and on-going care needs
- Ensure adherence to infection prevention and control protocols
- Advocate for patient safety, dignity, and quality care at all times
Skills and Requirements:
- Registered nurse qualification and current registration with the relevant Nursing Council
- ICU training and/or proven ICU nursing experience
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to delivering high quality patient centered care
