Key Responsibilities of an Icu Registered Nurse
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill and high-dependency patients.
- Continuously monitor and assess patients' vital signs, condition, and response to treatment.
- Administer prescribed medications, intravenous therapies, and blood products accurately and safely.
- Operate and monitor specialized ICU equipment, including ventilators, cardiac monitors, infusion pumps, and life-support systems.
- Recognize and respond promptly to medical emergencies and changes in patient condition.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and clinical documentation.
- Educate and support patients and their families regarding treatment plans, recovery, and ongoing care needs.
- Ensure adherence to infection prevention and control protocols.
- Advocate for patient safety, dignity, and quality care at all times.
Skills & Requirements:
- Registered Nurse qualification and current registration with the relevant nursing council.
- ICU training and/or proven ICU nursing experience.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
